JOEL:
My friend Eric introduced me to diving in my days in Arizona. I watched his eyes sparkle when he spoke of his dives and his living salt-water aquarium at home. So, I decided to give it a go. Diving is a way of escape from my work, phone calls and sometimes, my lovely wife. It is amazing how much peace there is in the water. Everything down there seem to have their own space and watching them gives me a sense of quietness that seem so lacking from our busy and demanding lives. After completing my open water, I decided to become an Instructor. Diving has shaped my lifestyle from a busy professional to a person who is aware of my passion and my environment. That's why with DiveDeli, our intention is to impart our knowledge and passion of the underwater world to those who are interested. |
ANN:
I always wanted to dive but never had the guts to do it until I was presented with the opportunity as a birthday present. It was too late to back down then, so I went along for the ride. My first open water dive was in the Great Barrier Reef. It took my breath away (I just forgot the first rule of diving – always breath.). The living creatures underwater were a shifting mosaic of underwater wonders. The fishes swam with the tossing current, the waving corals, colorful sponges, eels, starfish, nudibrancs, all of them shifting, blending, changing, moving and living in front of my eyes and surrounding me, I was mesmerized. I wondered why did I wait so long to take my first breath underwater. Besides the thrill of the adrenaline, diving helped me learned more about myself. It was when I did my Rescue Course, I realize that I could help people and that I am a lot stronger than I thought I was. No doubt, diving has changed my life. |
RACHEL:
When I did my discover scuba, it was one of those moments where I truly questioned my decision. I experienced vertigo and vomitted when I emerged. Should I really pursue diving? I'm glad I did. There are so many dive sites that Perth have to offer. From shore, boat dives, night dives, wrecks, there are so many locations where the diving is a class of its own. The ecosystem and environment is unique and very different from what you expect from the rest of the world. As I learnt diving here in Western Australia, my training has been an all rounder. I am now able to overcome the roughest seas and the biggest swells. Diving takes me to new places and lets me meet new friends. Another of my favourite dive site is Hamilton Island. |
